‘Gold Tracker’ is a new research tool for prospectors, that enables you to quickly validate almost any specific area in Western Australia in terms of prospectivity. It’s all about cutting down the huge amount research time and effort you would normally undertake. ‘Gold Tracker’ does not guarantee discovery, nobody can! Although, we can tell you with some considerable certainty where you are unlikely to discover gold, moreover we can also tell you places and areas predisposed to gold mineralization, it’s really that simple! Just take your time and follow the instructions, they are easy to follow.

Begin by narrowing the search:

You can ascertain gold prospectivity by using one of the following different search methods:

  • Search by Entering GPS Coordinates in UTM Eastings and Northings, you will also need the Zone and Zone Letter,
  • You can search by simply browsing the map, manually dragging and zooming as required to the area of interest then clicking to mark the area of interest,
  • You can search by area or town name, using the magnifying glass on the search page.

Once you have settled on an area of interest you can move and zoom the map to hone in on your specific area of interest.

Once you have the map displaying your specific area of interest you simply need to click on the map at the desired point then select the “Mark Search Point:” button. The program will then drop a pin on the map at that point. Once you have marked a point on the map you must click on the “Perform Search” button. This tells the computer to search for data around your area of interest.

After the computer returns a score it will drop a colour coded pin on the map at a reference point.  You can then repeat the process to Mark another point on the map then search again from the new point.

If you wish to continue your search of the target area you can use the “Advanced Search Next Highest”  or “Advanced Search – Highest Nearby” which are additional innovative search features that allow you to search the database again based on your last marked point for another point nearby that has the next highest or the highest prospective score. Higher Rating searches which fail to reveal a higher or more prospective area, within a reasonably close distance, receive a free credit or search to encourage further investigation.

Access these searches by clicking on the “Advanced Search – Next Highest” button alternately you can perform a search for the Highest Score nearby, using the “Advanced Search – Highest Nearby” button.  Note these use an Advanced Search credit  and can only be completed after an initial search.

Note: When marking additional search points always allow at least 1Km separation from your last pin or score or the system may return the same point a second time.

What The Scores Mean:

Prospectivity is calculated and broadly classified into the following categories:
Poor (Blue Marker and Numerical Score 0 – 40)
Marginal (Green Marker and Numerical Score 41 – 80)                          GT128GT128
Moderate (Lime Marker and Numerical Score 81 – 120)                         GT128GT128GT128
Prospective (Gold Marker and Numerical Score 121 – 160)                    GT128GT128GT128GT128
Highly prospective (Orange Marker and Numerical Score 161 – 200)  GT128GT128GT128GT128 GT135
Exceptional (Red Marker and Numerical Score 200 + )                          GT128GT128GT128GT128GT128

A prospectivity (numerical Score) also appears with every search, which aligns with the system assessment. Poor or marginal scores are not ordinarily worthwhile pursuing, under those circumstances we would recommend you search for another and more prospective area, eg.an area with a higher scoring value. To view the returned score coordinates and score simply click on the colour coded pin.

Please ensure that you record the co-ordinate data and prospectivity score for entering into your own GPS or mapping software as this is erased when the map is refreshed.

You can refresh the map by pressing “F5”

Important:

If you intend visiting any target site, you must start by ascertaining and confirming your right of access and obligations when prospecting through the W.A. Department of Mines & Petroleum or any of the Departments Mining Registrars offices throughout West Australia or alternatively by using TENGRAPH® Online, GeoMap or other suitable program.

In order to prospect safely and legally if the area is on an active Mining or Prospecting lease on crown land you require the lease holders written permission to access the ground, if the area is on an active Exploration tenement on crown land you can apply for a section 40E permit to access the ground.
