You may well ask: So how does it work? A massive quantity of data is the short answer! We have amalgamated Data gathered over a considerable period of time, all relating to specific gold targeting criteria and condensed it into four broad scoring criteria:

  • Structural geology,
  • Lithology,
  • Occurrences and
  • Other data, which also extends to include geochemical data.

In the first instance, we believed that calculating a score to reflect how prospective any particular area was would be easy to solve, it wasn’t! Our team that included Mathematicians, Geologists, Geochemical Scientists, and Computer Programmers along with the invaluable assistance provided by the computer scientists at the Department of Mines, Geological Surveys Division sweated over this problem for a considerable period to find a solution.

The problem was eventually solved with the help of the brightest and the help of a mathematical genius. Consequently we have been able to amalgamate all of this data using Fuzzy Logic (Don’t ask!) to calculate a score that reflected the potential chances of finding gold within any given pre-determined area. Suffice to say fuzzy logic is similar to the process used in artificial computer neural networks and expert systems.

Not only has this been extensively tested to ensure a high level of accuracy in determining potential prospectivety, but as the system enables us update the data and change calculations “On the Fly” as new information and data about gold prospecting becomes available the searches are always carried out using the most up to date information available.

So how does ‘Gold Tracker’ work to show you the potential of finding Gold at any point in Western Australia.

As we obviously cannot provide information about every single square metre of the state we have divided the state into a series of pre-determined areas. When you click on a point on the map the software calculates a prospective score for the nearest corresponding pre-determined area. This score is indicated by a marker which is placed on the displayed map and located at the approximate centre of the pre-determined area. The returned score is an indication of the potential to find gold within radius of approximately 850 metres of the provided GPS points ranging from “Poor” to “Exceptional” potential. The prospective score is indicated by a colour coded marker and also provided as a numerical value.

The software can also tell you the nearest place with the next highest possibility of finding gold to an existing prospective marker, this is “Advanced Search – Next Highest” – searching for a better result, in addition once you have completed a standard search of an area the software can search for the highest rated area nearby, this is “Advanced Search – Highest Nearby“.
